Our reporter recently caught up with Devonte Graham and asked him about his sick game. His inspiration may surprise you:
GRAHAM: Inspiration for my game comes from a team, not necessarily any one player. Before IM records were kept here at KU there was a dynasty in the early eighties that played just like we do. They were called Hippies and Heads and they played an unselfish brand of hoops that Dr. Naismith himself surely would have approved of. You can't find them in the history books. Their dorm has been torn down as well as their temple, a bar near where that horrid hotel,Oread stands now. No one remembers it's name. It is lost to history. Some of the old timers remember the Hippies &Heads. I think. Maybe not. Rock Chalk, Motherfuckers!
